I'll just list it out my main queries-

1) I'm using two numbers. One, for work and the other which is private. This dual sim iPhone will give me 2 WhatsApp?
2) Will my battery life go for a toss with dual sim?
3) My call logs and messages appear differently or in one entire cluster?
4) Is it possible to switch off one number on a Sunday?
5) When does this come out?

Honestly, I need a new phone quite badly (Currently on iPhone 5 & Oppo F1/f). I've grown tired of carrying two phones over the years and only done so because the iPhone's have been my daily driver. Now, I can get rid of the second phone and just use the new phone but when?

If someone could help me, I'd really appreciate it.

many of have questions about the implementation of the DSDS SIM/eSIM that apple is going to make available "soon".
there is simply no one (in the entire world, actually) who can answer the questions you have right now.

one thing for sure however is that apple does not give users alot of individual control and flexibility in most of its software so if you have very fixed ways you want to be be able to control it (like shutting it off on Sundays....) you will likely not be pleased with whatever apple implements.
the above is true especially for 1st gen releases of its software.

even with the above being so, i am still eager for my carriers in the countries i visit (including india) to launch (even just announce would be ok at this stage) their exact plans for their eSIM approaches.

question for you: do you know a link where i can see the actual plans that Airtel and Reliance Jio are planning to launch? i would love to be able to see if any of them are attractive options.

To answer your questions:

1. No, iOS doesn't have the facility of Dual Apps like on Android, especially on skins like MIUI or ZenUI.
2. Probably, considering both the SIM cards will be on Standby.
3. In one cluster probably like how it is on most Android devices except for stating that which number was called or messaged to.
4. I doubt Apple will not provide us the toggle to disable one or both SIMs.
5. "Later this year" as per Apple.

Also, from your location in your profile, only AirTel and Jio will support the eSIM. Vodafone-Idea and BSNL/MTNL are not going to support it anytime soon, maybe next year so unless you have Jio/AirTel, you'll have to use the physical SIM of the other two providers.

I have 2 physical SIM version, I think it will be the same with e-sim version (when they have update to support e-sim)

1) You can't install 2 Whatsapp on iOs so it's no
2) Normal battery life for me, compare to e-sim version that have 1 sim install
3) I will attach a screenshot for you to see. It will have an icon to show which one was used for that call
4) Use the number you want to switch off on physical sim, then when you need, take it out
5) Next software update may be :D

I couldn't find anything online as per Jio and Airtel. I asked one of their executives on the phone and they were clueless. I went to the store, they behaved as if I was speaking an ancient language.

Weird when you said that Jio/Airtel executives didn't know about the eSIM considering they've been selling it since the Apple Watch Series 3. The AirTel Store that is near my parents' home in Delhi arranged for it and it barely took them 5 mins to activate it. I think it will be the same for the new iPhones as well.

I hope iOS allows us to download 2 WhatsApp’s, or WhatsApp allows us to use 2 numbers in the same app.

When the time comes I’ll be sending them feedback.

I wish to know, can both SIMs support LTE. What I mean by this is, network 1, VoLTE, network 2, VoLTE, but yes, only one data network. When I get a call on any number, it is getting to me through VoLTE, on both SIMs. Possible?

Yes works. I use Telekom and Vodafone Germany and both are using VoLTE for calls. However you have to chose what „card“ you want the data to come from but you can switch that easily in the „mobile“ settings (i wish there was a Control Center toggle for that)

Yes, so that is exactly like Android; choosing one SIM for data but VoLTE works with both SIMs at the same time. Thank you so much for this. :)
