Am I the only one who doesn't understand why this isn't what they did?
Bah. $2-$3 more in manufacturing max.
We'd have to open one up to see how they did up the induction coil.
But, if they DID do it that way, Apple would lose out on the markup of the cable. Everyone would just buy cheap cables off of monoprice.
As a firefighter, I work shift work every three days. This would be so much more convenient for me. I know I can just buy another charging puck but I already have several lightning cables. Ring able to just plug the puck into an existing cable would be fantastic. Come on Apple, this is genius.
Third party will take care of this I guess..
Add a keyring loop to the puck, and you're good to go.
Did you notice that the cord that comes with the Apple watch is a lot longer than the ones that come with the iPhones. Maybe this has something to do with it?
I don't think it will work. Apple bring out a lot of software updates preventing third party companies being able to do this. Had the same issue with my iPhone 6 cable. Genuine unfortunately is the way forward. Guess it's Apples way of making even more money of us
