Earlier this month, after 15 years of promises and delays, the long awaited sequel to Duke Nukem 3D was finally released. While Duke Nukem Forever was met with poor reviews, if you still wanted to relive the experience on your Mac, you'll have a chance this August.

Aspyr announced today that Duke Nukem Forever will be officially making its way to the Mac in August. Aspyr is offering it for 10% off pre-order for the boxed Mac version. The game will also be offered on Steam and will support Steam Play which allows purchasers of the game on different Steam platforms to also get the game for the Mac.

Too bad it's such an awful game that hardly anyone will care. It took them what, 14 years to come out with this crap and this is what they release?

It's because it took 12 years that it is so awful. Technically it was more like 15 years.

The project lost focus and restarted so many times there was no chance it was going to be good. A throwback to old FPS games that started, say, a couple years ago might have worked. But a relic with ancient design principles with new ones welded on top can't.

Is the mac release later because it was rushed out on other platforms? :D :p

I wish Aspyr would spend their limited resources porting good games (or supporting older ones).

I heard they just released something for the sake of just releasing something...

The Final Cut Pro X approach. "Real Artists Ship".

Maybe they can do a proper sequel now, starting fresh, and come up with something better, adhering to a modern development cycle.

I still agree with Randy Pitchford that "The world needs Duke". More than ever. The world just didn't need *this* particular Duke.

I wish they would spend their resources in learning how to port things. It is sad that after 4 updates Civ 5 is still 1000x better under boot camp.

Thank god blizzard will do their own Diablo III on Mac.

I was excited , then I saw it was aspyr , who's business method seems to be "slap PC game into wrapper" and release at a premium , take money to pub !

My call ... Avoid at all costs , doubly so as it's a crap game

I guess this is why I hadn't heard anything about it after it got released...

I didn't much like the original's port to my iPhone anyways.

I hope it's free because I'm not paying more than that. On second thought, I'm not paying free either...

Nice!

I actually really enjoyed my time in DNF, it was such an enjoyable change of pace and the entertainment kept up from start to finish. My only criticism is that they didn't expand upon some areas as they try to rush you throughout levels.

Really glad it's Steamplay enabled. But unless there is no performance drop I'll stick to Windows. I already had to overclock my GPU just to get it running fully maxed out on my iMac!

Technically Duke Nuke Forever can already be played on Macs. You can get a 30 minute trial on Onlive before purchasing. Unlimited full game, 30 minute trials. No fees to have a membership on Onlive.

Always bet on Duke

That is what they want you to think and assume the older duke fans will indeed all think. Fortunately the world is a little more cynical and less gullible these days. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to have prevented millions of fools from buying this game. It is truly appalling, one of the biggest gaming swindles in history. Read the ARS review if you want truth.

Don't buy this POS. You have been warned.

The fact that it will be on Steam is a very great thing to note. It means whenever it goes on sale on Steam you can pick it up for cheap. I am personally waiting for that to happen, as the game doesn't seem to be worth the full price, or even 10% off.

Nice to see Aspyr are getting over their Steamplay issues. As for Duke Nukem Forever, it's a bit of a meh for me.
