Back in June, Aspyr announced that it would be bringing Duke Nukem Forever to the Mac. While the game has received generally poor reviews, there has still been a fair amount of interest in the title given that the game has been repeatedly promised over the past 15 years.

Duke Nukem Forever finally launched today for the Mac and is available via GameAgent and Steam for $39.99, but is also being offered through MacUpdate Promo for $34.99 through Sunday. The MacUpdate Promo offering also includes a free copy of Jets'n'Guns Gold.

Duke Nukem Forever is a Steam Play title, and thus allows users who purchase the title on one platform to play on other platforms for no additional charge.

Note: Purchases made through the MacUpdate Promo link financially benefit MacRumors.

Is this a brand new game or a remake?

It's a brand new game that got released for PC about four months ago and is now available for Mac.

Given the poor reviews it has received, I'll wait until I see it in a bargain bin for $15 or less.

there's a lot of funny stuff on this game.. the quotes alone kept me entertained and laughing throughout the game.. the game is only worth it if you played DN 3D otherwise don't bother.. people don't seem to get the humor of it for some reason.

Even so don't expect much out of it.. having played the original a couple of times thru and many hours on multiplayer back with 56k i give this game a 7.5 for the humor alone.. the campaign it's meh..

DNF notwithstanding, Jets N Guns sucks.

Jets N Guns is great and well worth the asking price for the soundtrack alone.

I'd say it's a lot better than DNF.

It actually released about 2 months ago. I have it on PS3, but otherwise, the Mac (or PC) versions don't offer anything different or better. And, with the way the reviews are for it, it should hit that bargain bin next week. :D It's a good game (not great), but I don't play action/adventure/shooter games much, but with the character of Duke, I figured I would enjoy it. The one-liners (foul mouthed as they ever were) are funny enough to keep me laughing in the multiplayer rooms.

I bet we all can't wait to get our hands on this one. lol.

I'm still sad it was actually released, it provided more entertainment in vaporware form.

MacBook Air

Wondering if this will run on the new 13" MacBook Air with Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB?

... 13 years after its originally planned release date. Man, I was really looking forward to this game until I started reading all of the reviews.

1) The game is difficult for those expecting to hide behind the wall and recover health instead of learning how to strafe.

2) The game sucks on consoles due to above + image quality issues.

But it's not a bad game if you enjoy FPS.

The brand new models that just got updated? I'd say it should run this easily.

they should just re-release the original duke nukem with online multiplay for mac, that would get more sales.

You should probably email Gearbox software & pitch that idea to them. They have the current rights to the Duke franchise.

I believe Steam offered it for $14.99 in their summer sale. I am not a fan of regenerating health.

I might pick up the remake of DN3D though.

The game put my GTX 460 through its paces. How about no.

Well I loved my romp through it, much more enjoyable than silly games that try to be serious (Gears of War, etc). Not the best game by any stretch of the imagination but it has some great unique moments.

Advice

Don't buy it. Mac port gets even worst. In steam page, there is no system spec. You don't know whether your Mac can handle. Honestly gaming on Mac is really bad idea.
