Dumb Question about Stickies :/

I just got a new Mac Pro so everything is new to me. I am having trouble changing the default font color of my stickies. I was able to change everything else... font type, size, bold, etc. I want my default color to be grey but once I close the sticky and open a new one it goes back to black....

I think this has been the case for quite a while. The Stickies plist file doesn't include a "key" for font color and I don't know if adding one would work or how to go about doing it properly if it can be done at all.
