Dumb question: Recent Apps/Documents folders in dock??

When I purchased my MacBook- on the very right side of the dock, next to the trash can, were two folders, which I think were called Recent Applications and Recent Documents.

I don't know how and I don't know when, but at some point I REMOVED those two items from the dock.

How do I get them back??

I think they were called Applications and Documents. To bring it over to the dock again, just open up Macintosh HD and drag the Applications folder and the Documents folder to the right side of the dock again, next to the "highway" line.
