Dumb question: "server taking too long" ?

Ok, I'm no internet/network wizard...why is it that yahoo, facebook and deviantart all won't load for me right now, giving me the "the server at _____ is taking too long to respond" when Macrumors, Google and one of the diving forums I use, thedecostop, all load fine? Infact, MR loads slow, but thedecostop loads lightning fast. What causes this? It's been like this for about 45 minutes now, and it's driving me nuts.

Normally this happens if the site is having problems or you have screwed ip / dns settings on your computer

I wouldn't blame the server...
maybe you have a crap connection?
