So I have a Series 4 Nike 44mm on order set to ship October 5th.

After watching videos, seeing pics, and other items I am wanting the Gold SS 44mm.

Shipping now is estimated as October 15th-22nd.

Is it dumb to order now when we may see some stock in store or is it still a good idea as that estimated date may get pushed up and I am still in the return window for my Nike sport version?

Just looking for any feedback as I am torn here.

I wouldn't say it's dumb if the stainless steel is the one you want. Don't settle for aluminum just to receive it a week or two earlier.

just order one now and if you happen to find one in store, cancel it. ;)

I havent done much watch ordering online but is there a certain point where the order is un-cancel-able...yes I just made that up :)

I agree with above. If you want the SS gold you should order it even if it takes a little longer for delivery. Not good settling for something you wouldn't be able to enjoy.

Thank you all for the feedback and will place the order now and hope that i find something sooner in store or my order date window gets pushed up.

I appreciate the details on the shipping process/return process too!

I personally could never settle for the aluminum, it’s cheap and doesn’t nearly hold the aesthetics that the stainless does. Obviously everybody will vary on opinion on what they like, but in terms of quality materials, the stainless trumps the aluminum in almost every way.

If you can afford it. I agree not worth second guessing yourself everyday you look at it.

I just wonder how the weight difference feels over time.

I ordered SG AL AW but now I wonder if SG SS is better for my OCD with scratches, dings. I like a lightweight watch though. Lol Catch 22 maybe

There is a substantiated weight difference when you first start wearing the stainless Apple Watch, the stainless Apple Watch actually is 40% heavier over the aluminum watch. If you’re concerned about scratches, I ordered the 44 MM space black stainless Apple Watch, which has a diamond like protective coating that surrounds the casing, which makes it very difficult to scratch, and then of course you have the sapphire display.

Edit: I want to add once you start wearing the stainless Apple Watch if someone was used to the aluminum Apple Watch, you do adjust to the weight rather quickly.

I will get both but the dates will overlap unless I can get lucky in store one day so i am looking forward to trying both.

The 3rd factor is if I hate the gold in person I will most likely go to the SS.

Lots of options this go around.

I wonder if you can order for in store pickup next week by checking daily inventory. I did this with an iphoneX last year and got it a week or 2 earlier

I am going to try daily as I have 3 Apple Stores within a 10-15 mile radius and give it a go.

I really want to see the gold in person but put an order in anyways as I didnt want that date to be pushed further back.

My safe, conservative fall back option is the boring SS silver. :)
