I've just spent all day trying to get this working, and just got the same error as in your picture :(

May I recommend Boxer, (http://boxerapp.com/), installed my 'ol Syndicate Wars no problem and it runs on the same engine as Dungeon Kipper.

A 4GW error could be a bugger to fix.

Keep us posted.

I reccomend you cop the contents from the CD onto the HDD, then follow my DOSbox guide. There are frontends to DOSbox that allow for a GUI and not just command entry, but I've explained everything I can. The errors should be overcome this way.

Trial and error.

Probably a little late....

Hopefully some of you still check this enough to give me a hand!

I'm trying to install DKII using wine. Does this work? And how do I go about it?

Thanks to anyone who checks =)

try this

google search transmission download it go to the pirate bay search dungeon keeper then find a mac version download it and open with transmission then wait for it to finish and start the game:D

my way is best way

Thats terrible advice; a) its illegal and b) there is not Mac version. To play DKI on OSX use DOSbox and to play DKII install "wine", you'll need legitimate CDs of both which can easily be bought from eBay.

Don't know if this was posted but Dungeon Keeper works perfectly in Boxer on the Mac in OS X 10.6

Boxer is an offshoot that basically is a Mac level version of DOSbox so everything is super easy. I have to say it again Boxer makes installing DOS games on a Mac SUPER FREAKING EASY!!!

http://boxerapp.com/

For Windows Emulators I used Windows XP 32 bit (Win7 or 64bit OS'es would not work)

As far as I can see it runs the DOS version. Dungeon Keeper GOLD.... which seems to have sharper graphics can only be run via Parallels (I have ver 6). It runs well........ but its a little unstable sometimes and has graphics issues that force (rarely) you to restart periodically. But the graphics seem sharper under Parallels. Not sure if its the gold version or not because I was not able to run the direct X 3D upgrade via Parallels just the plain jane windows installer for gold. Mouse movement is sort of slow.

I have also just tried VMWARE Fusion 3.11 and by far it seems to work MUCH better than Parallels at emulating this DK in Windows. Starts up slow but once you make sure to set windows 95 compatibility it works quite well. Just like the Parallels version this Windows installed version of DK Gold looks sharper than Boxer. Mouse movment is smoother than Parallels.

VMWARE and Parallels also works with the Direct 3D Patch http://www.filefront.com/897829/d3d101.zip - Always make sure that you use Windows 95 compatibility on the .exe file

seriously.

Okay, I have literally been combing the Internet, trying every conceivable way to get DKII to play on my Mac OSX 10.6. I've downloaded a torrent that claims it's the Mac version of DKII, I've tried downloading Boxer, CrossOver Games, DOSBox... basically, either none of these options work, or I am simply doing everything wrong and can't get it right (probably that one. Try as I might, I'm just not that computer-smart). The most frustrating part is that after downloading the Dungeon Keeper for Mac torrent, it actually worked! It was a glorious, glorious hour and a half of my life in which the game actually ran seamlessly! Feeling accomplished and smart, I quit the game with the expectation that I could come back to it and beat it within the next few days. And of course, I come back to it and all of a sudden it turns on me, claiming that "The application Dungeon Keeper 2 quit unexpectedly" as soon as I clicked on the icon to start it up. And this continued to happen EVERY TIME before the game could even run.

Somebody please convince me that the world does not hate me and help me out? :D

DKII on Mac, nay

There is no DKII Mac version, so you must have been using it in an emulation environment. But to my knowledge DKI is DOS based and so the only one of the two that can work with DOSbox.

Winterquilt, so then I should hunt for a DKI download and then try and use DOSBox? I'm not really sure what to do with DOSBox in the first place, even if I had the right file...

Isair, is Wine free to download/install?

If you use BOXER its complete just install it - its very easy...

Directons -

#1 DON'T use DOSBOX

#2 - get the ISO or a folder with the contents of the ISO - ISO is the disc image of the original CD disc. Or use the CD if you have one. you have to have this on your own.

#3 install Boxer LINK - BOXER -this is the DOSBOX emulator made for Mac OS X - it works great with DK1

#4 Its basic and drag and drop from here very very simple

Also DK2 is only working under Parallels or VMWARE - I think I also had it running in Crossover ( Crossover is a paid verion of Wine and make it very easy to use with OS X on a Mac.

Ho to.

You have to copy all the directories form the DKI disc onto your HDD and then install it via DOSbox, it can be tricky and there are youtube tutorials on how to do this, so read the FAQs, instructions and watch the videos first - don't be in too much of a hurry.

If you feel like it then create a tutorial video of how you did it after, game specific, for others in your situation and post a link here.

As for DKII you'll need WINE (Wine Is Not an Emulator) and that's no fun setting up. I've not played DKII through that but it probably works.

Boxer not working for my DK1

Hi! I tried the Boxer app but when i tried to drag and drop the CD in, i got this message instead:

“Dungeon Keeper” does not contain any MS-DOS programs. This folder may contain a game for another platform which is not supported by Boxer.

I'm using the original disc, but when i open the disc in mac, all the files i can see are only music files, which i think are the background music for the game. (Also, when i insert the disc, it auto-starts my iTunes) Does this mean my disc is spoilt? Or is it because mac doesn't let me view hidden files, or something along those lines? Or am i doing something wrongly?

FYI, i'm using a macbook pro and running on version 10.6.7.

HELP PLEASE!!!

DK1 working but no sound

Ok, i got it working but it was through using the parallels on my mac to get to windows, and then using the microsoft compatibility toolkit.. it works, but theres no sound at all.. anyone happen to know how to solve that?

For those of you who are still stuck...

This is for Dungeon keeper 2.

Go to this website http://www.transmissionbt.com/download/
click the link next to the X it should be the first one on the top right.
Next go here http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5302512/Dungeon_Keeper_2_[MAC]
When you get there DON'T click the big green download button click the thing below that says "download this torrent"
then the download window should come up when it does set it to open with Transmission then click ok.
When transmission opens there should be a window with a list of files on it in this case it would have a dmg and a document on the bottom right. Click add then sit back and wait for it to finish then play.
Hope this helps and for the people who say this is illegal this game was made in 1999 and it costs like $5 so they don't give a crap.
