I played, what seems like eons ago. I did get laid during that time period, and did not live in the basement. ;)

I credit D&D, and B movie nights with keeping me out of any serious trouble as a teen. As for geek cred, I have more than my fair share... but not sure if I really want to 'flaunt' that if you will.

I played GURPS based game for a few weeks during college and some Cyberpunk. I have never tried D&D.

Haven't done that in years cause having a wife that would think it is weird is probably not helping. :p

When the kids start playing, I'm so there. ;)

I always preferred GURPS to D&D. Much simpler system and you don't have to spend 20 minutes finding out which of the 9 billion dice you have in front of you to roll. Plus they have books for everything under the sun. To be fair, I haven't played GURPS since 3rd ed. and D&D since 3.0 (and that was NWN). I still have a couple 1st ed. books around here somewhere, not in the best of shape. No clue if they're worth anything.

These days my fantasy gaming experience is relegated to MtG. I got my first Top 8 at a big event last December.

Does a group of guys who met playing games in college and decided to buy their own game shop count?

No kidding. My dad saw something on one of the news magazines (60 minutes or 20/20, I forget) about D&D being Satanic, and he freaked out. I tried explaining things to him, but he still wasn't getting it. Finally, I used that strategy. He decided he would rather have me at a friend's house playing some game he didn't understand than out driving around doing all sorts of illegal things. Of course, I never mentioned that we often had large quantities of alcohol present at said games. :)

Never played it. It's kind of like Settlers of Cattan or something, right?

*Facepalm*

No. Not remotely. Comparing the two is analogous to comparing Settlers of Catan to Chutes and Ladders.

As for 4e... I'll admit I've been curious. The last time I played we were using AD&D 2nd ed. Have some familiarity with 3.0 rules thanks to things like NWN. Seems fairly slick by comparison. But definitely no time to get into regular games these days.

Nup, never played it in my life... I do not pretend to be an angry, drunken Dwarf Rogue and that is not my kitchen table below...

It was actually too easy to get our three teenage boys playing as they are all MTG fans already.

For your own good, if someone ask you to play Rolemaster, run... mostly just 2x D10 but they have a roll table for everything and just making your character is around 2 hours;) God I love that game.
