Duplicate email notifications in iOS7 only

I have an iphone 4S and have recently updated to iOS7 and since then I am getting a notification for a received email. If I then look at the email and then return to the home screen there is another red 1 in the email app window and on looking at it it's for the same email I just read.
This seems to be happening for every email but only since I updated to iOS7

Yes!! I am having the same issue and its annoying since I feel like I have another email. The only way I get it to go away is open the email like 4 times and then close the email app.

pear21, are you using an iPhone 4S too or another?
At least I'm not on my own here 🙂
