Thought Id try a FTP app that went free in appshopper fees.

How do you get rid of ghostly, duplicate apps. Doesn't have an x in joggle mode.

Does anyone else feel like they are dealing with more and more iOS quirkiness? Windows-like.

I haven't ever experienced duplicate apps but you could try deleting one of them (or both at once, if that's your only option) from the Settings.app:

Settings > General > Usage

Once the list of apps loads, tap on "Show all Apps" if necessary, locate the app and tap on it, and then tap on the big red "Delete App" button.

And yes, in iOS 6, I've experience an unprecedented amount of bugs, at least compared to previous versions of iOS.

I've been able to do this twice now, and both times it was because I was trying to move the app to a different screen when it finished installing.

I was able to get rid of the second app just by rebooting.

Hope this helps!
