You can try secondbar. Try to Google it first. It's still in beta but it works pretty good for me![]()
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Secondbar is simple, does the job perfectly, and eliminates ALL frustration for me over this issue!
On a side note (this is a bit of a rant, but I'll keep it as civil as I can manage, and won't quote anyone specifically. I don't mean to pick on anyone in particular, but some of the comments here have quite frankly infuriated me.)
A) I don't know who "Fitt" is, nor do I care.
B) I don't care how many studies have been done or for how many decades.
C) I know what works for ME, and know what I want and need.
D) Don't care whether my particular workspace set up is unusual.
E) Don't care whether my situation applies to less than a tenth of a percent of users, I want the solution I want. Period.
I use Synergy to incorporate the use of ONE keyboard and ONE mouse, with six monitors, four of which are used for three different Windows systems, two of which are connected to a single Mac.
My two Mac monitors are side by side below two windows monitors (connected to one Windows computer). I have a fifth monitor to the left connected to a second Windows machine. On occasion, I will also fire up my Windows laptop, and position it below the fifth monitor.
Because my two Mac displays are below two Windows displays, the supposed "efficiency" of the mouse stopping at the top of the screen, does NOT apply to me. No problem. I've learned to deal with it.
However, having to move the mouse from my right screen to my left screen in order to access application menus IS a major pain for me! Having to do so irritates and annoys me!
No "study" can possibly convince me that my own annoyance and irritation are not important. They are important to ME.
Dejamenu is a joke. It requires a keyboard shortcut to open, which totally defeats the purpose behind what those of us who WANT a duplicate menu bar, WANT, which is to be able to more quickly access menus with the MOUSE.
Those of us who want this, want it because it facilitates the motor habit of snapping the mouse to a location on the screen we have become accustomed to from years of using a single screen. We EXPECT the menu to be there. Now, with multiple monitors, it's no longer where our motor memory thinks it is.
I, for the life of me, do not understand the insistence of some users here on trying to convince those of us that WANT this, that we shouldn't want it.
Well, we DO. And we don't care whether you think we should or not.
Thanks very much to Bmproductions for posting info on secondbar. It's exactly what I want. As for those of you so insistent that you know what's best for us, thanks for nothing.
If you choose to think of me as a whiny, tantrum throwing selfish little kid who doesn't care what's best for anyone else, so be it.
You're right. I DON'T CARE!
