iPod Duplicate songs

Hey there all I know that this is a mac forum but this is an itunes related question. I have all of my music imported into my library but it's not kept in the itunes folder. I'm trying to delete all of the duplicate songs from my itunes.

I keep my music in c>mydocuments>my music> The dudes music

if I erase the duplicate songs from itunes will it also delete them from that folder? that's my desired result

it should ask you whether to "move to trash" or "keep files".

also, if you don't know, edit>show duplicate songs is very useful.

Just as long as your location is the stated location in your iTunes preferences, then whatever you delete from iTunes will move to the trash.

Also, you'll have to permanently delete the files from the Trash folder.
