I am trying to burn a dvd from my macbook to a dvd. Every time i insert the dvd it just pops back out and doesnt give me the option to burn something onto it. Am i using the wrong type of DVD? Or do i need to download something so that i can burn things onto dvd's?

What kind of DVDs are you trying to burn? (DVD-R/+R/+RW/whatever)

You do have a superdrive, right? As long as you do it is probably just the media. I believe the macbooks only have 6X drives so some 8X media wont work. Had the same problem with my pioneer dvd-rw s606 drive. Hope this helps!

a superdrive is a DVD burning drive.

Go to the Apple menu, and choose "About This Mac". Then click on "More info". In the new window that opens up, choose "Disk burning" from the left-hand column, and see what it says under "DVD write"

If it only says -R, -RW by DVD Write, then you need DVD-R. If it says -R, -RW, +R, +RW, then you can use DVD-R or DVD+R discs. If +R DL is listed you can also use 8.5GB Dual Layer discs. But, if it only has the -R, -RW by CD Write, then you can't burn DVDs at all.

Yep, the base model has a CD burner/DVD reader. aka "combo drive", unlike the "superdrive" that reads and writes both CD and DVD.
