You have to transcode the VOB media into something you can import into FC. Just download Handbrake for that.

file error

after i used handbrake and tried to import i get the message...
1 file regognized, access denied, 1 unknown..

what settings should i be using for this?

You may have to open that handbrake file in QT, then export as DV. Check on the compatible imports for your version of FC.

I use Visual Hub to get the vob files into DV format. Drag and drop simplicity.

It is very fast and no noticeable loss of quality.

Once in DV, you are good to go with Final Cut.
