dvd player not working??

"a valid video device could not be located" is all dvd player says

also if i try mac the ripper, it says I/O error, and it cant read the disk

any ideas chaps???

its worth noting, ive installed a command and conquer game using the drive so it works??

sorted!!!!

may of been down to migrating my stuff, just reinstalled osx and it seems to work ok so far fingers crossed
