I have a g4 imac. When I place a DVD+R in the drive, my computer does not recognize it. Is this a problem with my drive or is the format not supported? Looks like it is according to this:

TIA

SONY DVD RW DW-U10A:

Firmware Revision: A43i
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
Cache: 8192 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW
Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: No

DVDs are unreliable. Your drive supports +R and -R, but that doesn't guarantee it'll read individual examples of either format. -R tends to be the more widely supported and arguably the more reliable of the two. If your drive is reading other discs without hiccuping, then the problem is the disk, not your drive.

Andrew.

Thanks guys.

It is reading CD-R disc so it must just be the brand of DVD+R that I am using.
