Apologies if this is in the Wrong Forum.

Is there anyway of changing the Region code of the internally DVD drive after the allowed 5 times?

I use Uk and US dvd's and dont want to be locked onto one.

Don't think so but I am usually wrong, but just get a usb external dvd reader, use one for UK and one for the US ones

UNfortunately not. Lordedmond's suggestion is the best. Many externals can be made region free, btw.

i've just had this problem myself. turns out that the drive in your ibook will read anything, its just a software problem. all i did was remove DVD player software from my machine and used VLC instead. its a little slower but it will play anything.

Yeah, it's a software thing, and yours is a decent workaround.

I think your Macs will let you view 4 DVDs from any region, but the 5th DVD that you watch is the one that locks in the region settings.

When my slotdrive stopped working for some reason, Apple replaced it under AppleCare and I could set the region again. Maybe u should pray tht something goes wrong with urs as well! haha
