Hi all,
I have a dvd stuck in the drive of my 2011 iMac. Can't boot iMac due to HD failure. Is there a way to eject the DVD from the drive with the iMac in a dormant state? Thanks.

The only thing I could suggest is. Get a piece of card. Insert it into the cd slot.

Power on your iMac and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.

If this fails. Power off your iMac.

Insert the piece of card into the cd slot. Power on your iMac again and press and hold the left mouse button, while doing this keep moving the piece of card around and hopefully you will unbalance the disc and it will be ejected.

Power on the Mac and hold the eject button on the keyboard. That should do the trick, eventhough the hd isn't working. Goodluck!

As an alternative, holding down the
mouse button should work for ejecting an optical disk while powering on the Mac.
