DVD to avi for use in FCP

Hey guys,

I'm new to the whole video editing thing. I have a friend who needs to convert a DVD to AVI or something compatible to be edited in FCP. What is the best way to accomplish this? She's at the tail end of a doc she and her husband have been making for years.

VisualHub works nicely. It'll convert the DVD to DV which should maintain quality for them to work with in FC.

Ah- so I should convert it to a DV file then? Anything else I should know?

convert to a Quicktime Movie using the DV-NTSC codec

mpegStreamclip is another good option
