It should but you tried that already (you said you used a DVI-D to HDMI cable).Would a single link DVI to HDMI work, I don’t need the screen shared G5 to run at full rez.
The cable I have has the full bank of square pins (technical term…. 🥴), which is a dual link (screen grab above post). I have just ordered a single link with the two banks of nine pins….🤞It should but you tried that already (you said you used a DVI-D to HDMI cable).
Enable screen sharing in Mac OS X 10.5 or use a VNC Server in Mac OS X 10.4 to see what the system thinks about the display. Maybe it's trying to use an unsupported mode. Choose a lower resolution such as 1920x1080.

It is the Apple G5 edition (bought new……waaaaaay back). Is the X1900 a genuine Apple part or some reflashed PC part?
I don't think it's possible to make a non-bi-directional DVI to HDMI cable unless you wanted to make something way more expensive than it needs to be.It could be the first cable is not bi-directional, so only works from hdmi GPU to dvi monitor.
Hello! Can you please tell us what cable you have used?Success….. 😁
The new cable arrived today.
Connected my old 19” dvi to one port, and the dell 27” to the other.
I was then able to select different resolutions from the 19” for the Dell.
1280x720
1280x1024
1600x1200
1920x1080
2048x1132
I then made the Dell the main display and turned off the 19”.
This sounds like picking the correct resolution via screen sharing would've also worked on the other cable.Success….. 😁
