How do I connect the DVR connected to surveillance cameras to my iMac to be able to see life video? There is a VGA on back of DVR. Do I use the USB or Firewire on iMac?

It's probably a self contained box. Have you tried connecting the VGA cable to ... you know... a monitor?

ALmost all surveillance boxes I've ever seen are their own proprietary systems built on Windows or Linux. Many of them offer exporting the video over a network connection or permit live viewing via a local webserver.

Did you buy this off of ebay or something? I'd look around for the documentation. You'll probably be needing it.
