E-mails appear for a second, then disappear....

On my iPhone 3Gs with an AOL e-mail account, when I open my e-mail, or even with the auto check, and e-mail downloads, shows up for a second, then disappears. If I reload again, the e-mail downloads again, then stays the second time. I've removed the account twice and put it back on, still doing it. Does anyone have any ideas? I saw some stuff on the Apple forums, but no answers, just people with the same problem.
