I want to separate my business calls from my personal number. Do you suggest dual sim such as e-sim plus a sim or two separate phones?

The only problem I see with e-sim plus sim is possibly higher battery drain.

How do you handle data? With a dual line phone, data generally goes to a specific line. With seperate phones, you know where data is pulled. But yes, only one phone to carry.

For personal use, I've had a backup line for coverage, and my primary phone. Generally kept on separate phones since I would only carry second phone when on the road. And, of course, I had more than enough phones. (Trying to give away some now as upgrades to family).

You don't find having two phones annoying? Both phones would have data one would have 10 gb for personal and 1 gb for work.

I also have some unused phones.

My primary phone is the one people call me on, and that is the one I carry. My coverage backup phone has 100 minutes/500mb per month, so I don't carry it. A "benefit" of having 2 if I'm traveling is if I were to lose/break the phone, I have an usable phone as a backup.

I carry 2 phones. It only takes one legal hold before you stop combining personal and work data.

I use a physical and eSim. Dual sim was the reason I upgraded to the XS Max so I could quit carrying 2 phones around. Have not once ever regretted that decision.

Folks who have both eSim + another sim within the US: do you use the same carrier or a different one? Why?

(Obviously it's cheaper to simply add a line to an existing plan, but wondering if there's some coverage or other terms/conditions I'm not aware of.)

I can only see using the same carrier if you needed 2 numbers for different purposes, such as business/personal. Personal/mistress :)

I may move my backup line to my primary phone if this MVNO I've seen on howardforums gets cellular Apple Watch support. It is a different underlying carrier too, for coverage.

LOL since the messages & photos app don't get split by line, not sure I'd advise dual sims for that reason 😂 but yeah for the convenience of receiving both work + personal together while minimizing cost.

Maybe I will move to the esim+physical sim on the same carrier for now since it's not like I'm out and about where having better coverage would be worth the cost. Then, assuming life resumes some of its old patterns, seeing if I might prefer having another carrier's data spectrum to reduce bad reception zones.
