e13ctron aluminum case Full Review

It was funny seeing pornstars and strippers walking one side of the Venetian ground floor while the other side had tech journalists, salespeople, and engineers walking the opposite.
I missed this year but last years iLounge Pavilion in Central Hall was a blast. And the free schwagg was nice as well.
Thought I'd post a few more pictures of the black chrome hybrid case that I took this morning. This black chrome finish is one of the hardest finishes I've ever tried to accurately capture in a photo! These still don't do it justice. Again, this is a dark "smoke" chrome (basically a mirror-like black finish).

I know I'm new here but have followed Aluminum cases since the render of the Vapor and know how impatient some people get here but what Element did to everyone was just Ridiculous and that's an Understatement.

Thanks. Jacob from e13ctron sent me this color and the prototype plastic back to test out. The black chrome was sent to see if I thought there'd be any interest in this color. He has also done up a few mirror/silver (traditional) chrome pieces to see how they look. And as I've stated before, his final design for the plastic/hybrid back piece won't be exactly like this. The one I have is just an identical copy of the standard aluminum back, but just made in plastic instead, and uses the original plastic "gasket looking" spacers (see the very first post in this thread to see my pics of those if you're not familiar). The final design will be made to do away with the plastic gasket spacers on both the front and back of the phone, and the plastic back incorporate those spacers into it's design. It'll still have the same appearance from the outside when installed, but it'll have a slightly different fit underneath. The way that I have these already is that I've become pretty good friends with Jacob at e13ctron through all of our communication (we began talking about cases before he/they released theirs), and we talk about this stuff all the time. He's a great guy, and works hard at this stuff, in addition to having another full time job. I'm shocked at how great his customer service is knowing how little free time he has.
Added: If you're interested in this hybrid and/or black chrome finish, hit their webpage and shoot them an email stating your interest. They are trying to get an idea as to how much demand there is for the black chrome and standard chrome finishes, and whether it's worth it to mass produce it, and won't know unless they hear from you guys.

thanks for the infos chris, i agree that Jacob is a great guy to deal with. we've been exchanging emails and i couldn't say any negative about this guy! i have never encountered such great costumer service in my whole "buying online" experience!

Yeah, they are still at CES as of about a few hours ago. I talked to Jacob and he's waiting to get back to a computer before he replies to all the emails they are getting since my posting of the pictures yesterday. He said it'd take all day to reply to all of them from his iPhone. But rest assured that he is getting them.

The sun finally broke through a little today, so I took some comparison pics to show the different finishes between the two cases. I know my pictures don't do these cases any justice, but you get the gist. Time to take advantage of the weather and go outside and play.
Wow, beautiful pictures guys, with all these pictures your making me want one. Just not sure which color combo to pick up yet. And hows the service and gps and everything work? Sorry I haven't read much on this thread, just looked at photos. 😛
I don't know if it's just the lighting but the matte clear aluminum just looks really dull. I'd prefer to get the matte case but the colors are just kind of underwhelming compared to the polished colors.
where did all the people saying "aluminum cases wont work with reception" go? they convinced me that it'd never happen, but now I see this thread.
Do you guys think I should wait for the Black/Mirror Chrome? What is the advantage of the plastic if the aluminum isnt interfering with the reception that much?

e13ctron design is smooth, simple but elegant.it feels good holding it, because all the edges and corners are smooth. the craftmanship of this case is great. the design makes it look slimmer than the blade and also it makes it easier to hold. the look and feel are the advantages of this case for me.the cut outs for the power and the volume are the cons for me. its not that bad, but just a little deep to push.

I would also say that they certainly have a clever business model! Being able to order separate parts to customize the case is pretty unique. (As I place an order for a clear front and an orange front and black screws . . .😉)
Yep! I'm still testing it in a few very low signal areas, and will do a more extensive review in a few days, but I can go ahead and say now that it looks like ALL signal issues are gone with the hybrid. I'm sitting in my middle brick apartment right now, and I'm getting -76dB for my signal. That's unheard of with any of the other aluminum cases I have. And somehow the GPS is able to pinpoint me to within 6 feet, and I'm inside. The GPS has been spot on since I put the hybrid on Saturday, and has never taken longer than 10 seconds to lock on and follow me. Again, my final review will come in a day or two, but as of right now, I can tell that the e13ctron hybrid isn't coming off my phone! Well...other than to switch up my front part (I have 3 colors now), and to put the final hybrid design on when it's release in a few weeks.
