EA has announced SimCity BuildIt for iOS, bringing another iteration of the ultra-popular PC game franchise to Apple's mobile devices. Like the other titles in the series, SimCity BuildIt allows players to build and maintain a city through the construction of businesses, houses, government buildings, roads, and more.

The choices you make evolve your city in a variety of ways. Meet your citizens' needs to keep them happy, or make questionable choices and feel your citizens' wrath.
The title will make use of the touchscreen on iOS devices by allowing players to pinch, zoom, and rotate around their city, as EA is promising "vivid 3D-quality graphics" for the game. SimCity BuildIt marks the second time that EA has released a SimCity game for iOS, as the company released SimCity Deluxe for the iPad in 2010. A Mac version of the latest SimCity title was also released last August.

EA has yet to announce a release date or pricing for SimCity BuildIt, however the company states that more details on features will be released soon.

Doesn't look good. They should just bring SimCity4 to iOS.

It was the last customizable Sim City, and that's why everyone still plays it a decade later.

More free to play nonsense. I love SimCity, but timers make it impossible to enjoy these games and I refuse to pay for disposable digital content.

Is this why the Mac/PC version was so rubbish? They wanted feature parity with iOS or something?

Either way, no sale EA. You're the worst.

Who wants to guess there's going to be in app purchases for everything.

EA have murdered this series, just like the mess that is the Sims 4. Makes me sad, but they're nothing but thieves.

Yes! I want a decent sim city on my phone and iPad.
Not so keen on sim city deluxe.
As long as it's not "free to play", I'm probably in!
If they go the route of theme park or dungeon keeper, they can ****** right off!

Edit:
Just read EA's page
this is an all-new SimCity game like you've never seen before, designed for gamers on the go.

Probably "free to play" :-(

I agree. Sim city 4 was redone for the Mac a few months ago and I bought and have been playing that one. Never even bothered with that last one EA put out. Been playing SC4 since 2004.

Don't bother, it is a EA game, it going to be riddled with immense time delays that you have to pay for again and again and again and again... Oh, you want a newer power plant? PAY! oh, you want fire trucks? PAY!

Just look at what they did Dungeon Keeper.

I mistakenly bought the most recent SimCity. That was a mistake. I spent about a week playing it and then realised all of the fun was gone (was it there to begin with?). EA's treatment of SimCity is one of the most extreme examples of a bastardised franchise I've ever known. By some miracle, SC4 was great and the only game worth returning to (besides earlier offerings). This mobile version of SC looks to be another catastrophe waiting to happen and I've grown twice-shy - never making the same mistake again. Good riddance, Electronic Arts and rest in peace, Maxis.

Hmmm , maybe i will buy. I hated Sim City 4, i don't like the latest Sim City, i still play 3000 and 2000.

I just want to build big magnificent cities, and i felt that went down hill from Sim City 4 onwards.

Has to be pay-to-win ... otherwise they would call it "SimCity" not "SimCity BuildIt", right?

Based on what, 2 pictures? Virtually no details on the game and you already dismiss it. I assume its based on some hatred for the latest SimCity. Nevermind the fact its been largely fixed by now.

The newest sc has not been fixed!
There is not regions to build and the map is ridicolusly small. I disagree with the whole concept.

It may be fixed, but it is still worse than SimCity 4. The terrain size hardly warrents a 'city'.
EA have a reputation. And its a bad one. And amazingly, they don't seem to be in any desire to prove people wrong. Sims 4 is a shambles. And this iOS game will most likely be ruined by microtransactions like Dungeon Keepers and Plants vs Zombies 2 was.

Every year they jump up at E3 and present the latest version of stuff we already have. Their 'sequels' often have less to offer than the predecessor and often they just outright lie about a game (FIFA 2014 for example which was actually nearly identical to FIFA 2013 despite claims of super advanced AI). Oh, and they also have the audacity to then charge £50 for these rubbish yearly releases. Plus DLC of course because the most popular bits will be pulled out and offered as a separate chunk.

I don't really get the hate on the latest SimCity, yeah it is still buggy, but it's so much better than SimCity 4!

EDIT: I have to agree with roadbloc that terrain sized absolutely suck, and megatowers aren't a solution for huge populations...

I don't know, I really hate EA for ****ing games, Sims 4 doesn't look exciting at all either

If your history is any indication, this will be less innovation or evolution and more exploitation.

Go to hell, EA.

I think EA tried to dumb down sim city after 4 to try to appeal to a larger audience....which backfired?

That's not true at all. Before that they had SimCity. They released the deluxe version around a year later and pulled the old one off the App Store. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe the only difference between the two was that you had seasons, starter cities, and the controls were better and it was less prone to crashing. I could have sworn the original was also for iPad, but it might have just been for iPhone. But either way this is at least the third iteration on iOS.
