Bloody hell, it must be really long.

Oh...
*bows*:p

If you get your ear pierced, remember: left ear is straight, right ear is queer, both is bi:D:p
Na, not anymore, at least not in the Deep South, USA.:D

how about an industrial?

I loved mine when I had it
I have an industrial, but then I'm a girl. And speaking as a girl, I think they're hot. Get what you want. You can always take the jewelry out if you change your mind later.

There will be girls who love it, and girls who despise it. In the end, be sure it's what you want and that you're not just doing it to impress a lady, who may or may not be around tomorrow.

They still do that? lol. I pierced my left ear, and I told my friend I'm gay and when he saw me, he thought the left was gay and right was straight, so he got his right ear pierced... boy that was funny.

I think that should only be worn by Republicans over age 30 who live in the Northeast or Idaho, nowhere else. I don't know why I say that, it's just a hunch.

nothing.....its the culture one lives in. imo, guys shouldnt have earrings

i mean, women could grow their hair our on their legs and not shave and guys could grow their hair out as opposed to keeping it short. women dont have to wear high heels at formal events or wear makeup either. do they? no. why? because thats our cultural expectation

So am I morally indescribable then?

I'm a comfortably straight 22-year-old male, and I have an ear piercing.

In fact, I live in a pretty conservative community, and I can't recally anyone asking me about it or giving me strange looks or anything.

I loooove industrials on girls.

Like I said earlier I have one as well though and I'm a guy. I think it just depends on your style moreso than your gender.

good for you.

though you cant deny that most do when one goes to formal settings can you not?

i dont really care what you or your girlfriend do, just stating my observations on what our culture for the most part does:rolleyes:

Why on earth should you care about complying to norms?

It's dull.

I agree, it is dull. But you do have think about what you will be doing with your life.

My nephew is in prison right now, but when he gets out next year, he will be working for us in the real estate business. He has tattoos all over his arms, so he will have to wear a long-sleeve shirt a lot. I don't agree with it, but it will cost him a ton of money if he offends customers. It's a sad fact. People judge, that's just the way it is.

The thing about piercings is that they can be removed. I have tattoos too, and I don't regret getting them, but they are all in places that can be revealed or covered up easily depending on the environment that I'm in.

OP, ignore all the stuff about cultural expectations and societal norms. If you followed the societal norm 20 years ago, women' place is in the kitchen. Once upon a time, the cultural expectation for people of colour is hard labour. They are not expected to be CEOs or the president. It's stupid that your gender have to define the way you act. I know many guys who have long hair and women who refuse to wear high heals or makeup. Seriously, why would long hair even be considered feminine, Jesus had long hair, and I doubt many people would label him feminine or immoral/reject. Personally, I think piercings on guys is hot, and a guy who dares to be different is hotter. So just do what you want.
The clip on earring is a good idea though. It's only $5-10, and it can save you a lot of hassle if you don't like the look.

I agree entirely, I don't have any visible body mods myself. Practical reasons are very sensible, I just contest that one should blindly conform to the norms simply for the hell of it.

I don't see the sense in doing it unless you go all out. A dude with one little earing, I think, is kind of weak sauce. I feel like earing are only bad-ass on the dudes with the long hair, tattooed sleeves, who smoke, and play in a band. Like I said, you might as well go all out.

Do you want one because you think they're "cute"? Do you think it'll make you feel better, or do you just want to get with this girl?

If you want the latter, there are many other ways to do so, as opposed to changing yourself.

They sell DIY kits at Sallys Beauty Supply (idk if you got one around your area) they're like $6, one time use only.

I have three piercings. One I got when I was in kindergarten, and I got the last 2 last year.

A lot of guys in my area (Bay Area, CA) have earrings.

that is the worst way you could possibly get your ears pierced. the piercing 'guns' they use at those store can do horrible damage to your ears. the studs that are used are not sharp by any means and are forced through your ears with a spring loaded gun. lots of times they dont go through all the way and have to be pushed the rest of the way.
it should be illegal to pierce people like that.

All depends on the culture, I suppose. I live in a culture where as a short-haired, unpierced, untattooed male I am not mainstream. Americans can be, and usually are (with exceptions) much more conservative than many other cultures.

ps I live in Canada, and while not all of Canada has the same attitudes about piercings etc as the community I live in, it is generally much more progressive than our southern cousins.

Go for it if it is what you want. I've had one in my left ear since I was 21 (40 now). It has never been a problem and I have received compliments on it if the earing was nice. I live in Canada as well though in a more conservative (redneck/bible thumping) province and even the cowboys here wear earings.

At least as far as peircings go, there is no gender stereotype...now, where did I leave my parrot?

My ex-wife, and this is the reason (no, just kidding) used a needle and ice.

She pierced the ear about 3/4s or maybe only halfway, and then pushed an earring through. That hurt like heck and was swollen for some time. Everything was sterilized with rubbing alcohol but I think the swelling was caused from that hand pushed earring to finish the job.

I know these days, youngsters actually pay large amounts of money to feel pain for their piercings and elaborate tattoos otherwise they feel ripped off.

Keep in mind that piercing the lobes is very different from a cartilage pierce. I would not recommend going to a jewelry store for a cartilage pierce. My daughter did this, and they used the wrong size jewelry. She had to visit our local tattooest, and he repierced it with the proper size. It hurt much worse the second time and took longer to heal.

how about they pay more to get it done right, pain free, clean and healthy rather than with a cheap plastic gun or unsterilized needle?

Bah, I still think guys should have both pierced or not at all. I am all about the symmetry!
