Earbuds w/ mic not working.

I plugged in a set of earbuds that came with a mic into the audio jack and it is not showing up as a mic option. I think it should be called "line in" but I can't find it. It is a Urban Beatz strike.

The new MBA's don't have a mic jack so maybe that's why

What os x are you using? Model year of your MBA? I assume the headset and mic works fine on your phone...iPhone?
This was an issue on 10.8.x with 2013 MBAs, but was resolved with 10.8.5 and assumingly forward to 10.9.x.

Actually, they have.. (Sort of) Its in the headphone jack, a.k.a multipurpose jack. So that headsets with mic can be used. Not sure when this was implemented..
Picture below to illustrate.. As long as the headset is "Made for iPhone", a.k.a has three rings in the plug then it should work.



Edit: if the headset has 2 pcs of 3,5mm plugs (a pc headset) then you should be able to get it to work using a 3.5mm 4 Position (3 rings) to 2x 3 Position (2 rings) 3.5mm Headset Splitter Adapter.
