My screen will start flickering (randomly) and artifacts will start scrolling on my screen then I get a panic attack(see below)

I'm thinking the nvidia 8800 may be fried but I have no idea. Anyone know what the following report says? Thanks for looking!

I confirm it must be the video card. I was able to run screen share from another computer and control the early 08 but when I switched the monitor to the mac pro, i was unable to control it. (just a glitches screen)

Baking the GPU in the oven might repair it (no joke, go google it!)

I saw this too, blew my mind to see it work for people. If I keep having issues I will try it and report back.

It doesn't seem like my 8800 is completely gone though.. right now I'm using without any issues. Last night was a different story.

Any ideas? maybe its overheating? (the fan works)

blow out the fan backwards with compressed air (ie, from exhaust end toward intake)

but it really sounds like card is DOA at which point you literally have NOTHING TO LOSE by baking it

you need to remove the fan

When removing and installing the fan, have the DVI port end of card hang just over the edge of a table whilst removing/replacing screws

otherwise you risk bending card and breaking more ball joint contacts

I have found 380F for about 9 minutes to work well. Pre-heat before putting card in.

do NOT inhale when removing from oven

I leave kitchen window open and have exhaust fan venting to outside whilst the entire process goes on

Have more arctic silver type stuff on hand or a solvent to re-soften the old stuff

But if blowing out fan doesn't fix it, quit hoping it will fix itself. That is sort of like driving your car after transmission starts going out and hoping it will fix itself
