Early 2008 MacBook Pro and Lion

17" MBP runs flawlessly when on Snow Leopard, however when I tried to upgrade to Lion, the black light on the screen doesn't turn on. It's very dim.

I installed SL again, and everything works.

Im 😕

Any suggestions?
