I have been searching the internet for over a week trying to decide on getting a early 2009 8 core mac DDR2 ram. Or a new Quad core DDR3 ram? which one would you advise? i am a web designer so Adobe Master Suite will be used a lot.

Thank you

If you provide more details, members may be able to help. 🙂

For example, what exactly do you use in that suite, how do you use it (i.e. file sizes may help), and how much time is spent in each area?

That will help narrow down if you'll be able to use more cores over faster clocks, or fewer cores at a faster clock (single vs. multi-threaded usage pattern).

Go for the quad. The faster clock speeds will be way more useful to you than more cores.

And you don't need the extra RAM slots if you're just doing web work. I run multiple VMs (web dev as well) and 12-16 GB is still plenty.

And the better GPU will only help you in the future.

I will mainly use photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver CS5.
Now its between 3.2ghz Quad core 2010 or 2.26ghz 8 core DDR3 Ram
