Hello,
So I accidentally bought the wrong memory for my iMac.. all the specs are the same as the recommended memory, except its DDR3-1333 instead of the recommended DDR3-1066. Does this matter? Anyone have any real world experience doing this? Im getting mixed results via google search of the topic.

I can understand the mixed results, it so depends on the model of the computer and on the particular memory. It might work is the best answer I can give. If it does work, expect it to run at the speed of the -1066 memory.
