If you have an early 2011 15" MacBookPro8,2 running El Capitan, Sierra or High Sierra, could you please give me the SMC and EFI firmware versions as reported by your system? The reason I am asking is because I think mine has "incorrect" ones: 1.69f4 and MBP81.004D.B00 on Sierra 16G1036.

The different versions of operating system will result in different versions of firmware. Since your computer has the latest 10.12.6 security update, it will have the latest available firmware, assuming you did not image the computer from another disk that already had that operating system on it. The security update included a firmware update.

Considering the problems that OTHER owners of the 2011 15/17" MBPro owners have had (RadeonGate) -- if incorrect firmware numbers are the ONLY problem that you have... be thankful!

Well, I've only had it for a month and on occasion it won't wake from sleep, i.e. black screen although keyboard lights up and mechanical hard disk spins up. Diagnostic tools show both gpu's work fine. So I thought I'd start with the "incorrect" firmware numbers, probably of no importance.
