I've just been offered and tempted by an early 2015 MacBook Air 13" with 4Gb memory and running Monterey.
Can someone please tell me if this OS runs well on this MBAir7,2 (A1466).
I'm asking because I short while back I upgraded a 2013 MBAir with same amount of RAM memory from High Sierra (which ran beautifully) to Big Sur which not only slowed down the boot time significantly but also the performance in general.
Is the 2015 with OS Monterey a happy or unhappy Mac.......?

I installed Monterey on a 2015 air with 8GB and not really happy with the performance. It seems to struggle a bit when booting. After it is up and running, I have no problem with it but the wait from a cold boot takes longer than previous OS I've used.

I've had one with 8gb ram for 5 years.. personally I wouldn't get a 4gb.. if all you do is email and web browsing and very very light things, 4gb is ok..and especially if it's free.. if you want to do more like running a vm or video work I wouldn't get it. I've been running Monterey on it since it came out and it's the best since Mojave..

do we reside in the USA?
if so OWC is selling the model for a reasonable price with 8GB.
Thanks in replying. No, I'm in Europe.
Fwiw, pricing in the US has often confused me (and others here) because unless one has a rapid brain to calculate the additional % tax payable on the product, the 'actual' walk-away price is somewhat vague. Here generally in Europe, the price you see is what you pay. Nice and simple.
Furthermore I note that OWC appear to have some very questionable advertising tactics. I particularly noted that for the 13" mid-2013 MacBook Air it's listed as $179 Save up to $2720.00!! Really........?
I have no idea how much the actual take-away price is on that $179, but even with 8Gb RAM there are far better deals here in Europe.

You can install MacOS 13.7 Ventura (faster than Monterey) using Open Core Legacy Patcher on a 4 GB MacBookAir 2013 (or newer) and it is quite responsive. As long as you do not try to open multiple programs or dozens of browser tabs, Safari would work fast and there is no caching to the SSD.

I have installed MacOS 13.7 on a MBA 2013 with 4GB RAM and on a MBA 2015 with 8 GB, tested a few websites in Safari and they open a bit faster on the 2015er but they are no way slow in opening on the 2014er. It is about the same, definitely a good idea to have them upgraded to Ventura.
