Course it is. looks about as 'difficult' to set up as TouchID.

Uhm no.
TouchID enrollment process always left me perplexed.
I can totally see people (elders, not tech savvy, etc.) struggling with the various commands and steps.

Oh well I’ll go ahead and admit it: I too did it wrong the very first times (in terms of timing of the on and off movements of the finger).

FaceID looks definitely more accessible.

I'm sure they tested facial hair but I wonder how much facial hair lol.. I plan to set it up clean shaven and then not shave for the month of November. Let us see! :)

That’s the thing, it learns ur face as time goes on. I think it said every so often when you unlock it, it compare’s to what it has on file and adds the new face data to the face print. So it will add ur growing facial hair each week.

oh wow, that's pretty cool!

currently I and my wife have each other's finger print on our iPhone's so we can open each other's phone to access photos etc. What happens now when both of us receive our X's? Is there an alternative like a pass code for each of us to open the other's iPhone X?

you would have a pass code like you do now on your current devices but yeah you wouldn't be able to open each others phones using face ID
