Hi,

I'm contemplating doing an early upgrade at the discounted price since my upgrade date isn't until 6/2/2013. So, I was wondering what happens to this date when I do an early upgrade? Does it remain the same date? Or does it get pushed back as much as if I did a normal upgrade?

Would be cheaper to simply open another line and pay the $10 a month for the extra line (if you have family plan of course).

That's one of reasons att is trying to push mobile share. And the real real Verizon is pushing their share everything.

Cause they don't want u opening another line and pitting flipphone for $10/month.

On data sharing a flip phone will cost u $30/line to open. At least att gives u option to go back to older plans. Verizon does not.

It gets pushed back as if you did a normal upgrade

Yep. In my opinion since ur full upgrade date gets pushed back another 20 months. U will end up being in same situation with the next iPhone release.

Plus $450 plus $36 upgrade fee plus potential $325(-$10/month) etf is $160 note than full retail probe of unlocked iPhone 5 16gb.

How would I go about doing this? And how is it cheaper? My current plan is a total of 89.99 (before 20% FAN discount). 450 minutes, unlimited text and 3GB data. What changes would occur? Would I just go up to $99.99? Thanks!

I'm not sure if I'm getting screwed over or not because I was VERY confused during the process...I had the same plan as you have. My monthly bill was $97 and some change. I had 450 minutes, unlimited text and 3GB of data. The $97 was AFTER my 20% discount from my work.
I just added another line to get the "new user" price on the iPhone and my plan is now expected to push $140 a month! I almost didn't do it. Now I guess I have unlimited talk and text but I only have 1GB of data(which is fine for me, everywhere I go has wifi). If anyone knows of a cheaper way to do what I'm doing please post it below.

It is confusing. I'm going through Apple's ordering system as if I'm adding a line and I'm a bit lost. It seems as if I can add the same plan I have to my primary line to this second line or I can switch to mobile share.

If I decide to go this route, I plan on purchasing a cheap pay-as-you-go AT&T phone. I would then make this active as the phone for the second line while switching the new iPhone to my primary line. Thus, I would only need one data plan. Is this possible? I remember this being done before, but not sure. And, it seems like Family Plans don't exist anymore, just Mobile Share.

I'd like to have, at minimum, 3GB of data.

I would like to know the answer to your question as well. I ended up "having" to switch to a Mobile Share plan...

Call AT&T customer service , ask for a discretionary credit and they will credit you 250$ so you can get the i5 for 199$ I did this and my upgrade wasn't ready until may 20 2013 !! They took 250$ off what would have been 450$ .. Trust me it works and if the ******* first person you talk to says they can't ask for a supervisor they'll take care of ya thousands of ppl posted about this on here it will save ya 250$

I'm assuming I have to order from AT&T's website then? Would this be after or before I place order? Finally, is this credit for the purchase of the phone or just the bill? Thanks

A friend of mine did this switch 2 years ago, before Mobile Share, so who knows how it works now. I have a pending sale on my 64GB iPhone 4S at $550, so it'd be great if I get the upgrade price instead of the discounted price.

Upgrade

I ordered thru the website and I've heard both ways ppl that have already ordered then called in and asked for 250$ credit and I know ppl that have called before hand !! I thought it was a joke but there was a post on here with like 2,000 posts n tons were getting this credit !! The first guy I talked to said it wasn't possible I asked for a supervisor n asked for a discretionary credit to get 250$ off my upgrade n stated lots of others were getting this credit as a one time Curtesy n he did it no problem and I've also heard ppl getting credit of 250$ to there bill Which I guess would basically be the same thing your bill just would be paid until the 250$ is used up

Oh and if ya end up doing the upgrade and you get the 199$ price which you'll get if they charge you the 36$ activation fee or whatever they call it just call back after you get phone and they will take the charge off I upgraded 3 phones to the i5 n they charged 3x36$ I called in they took off all 3 and gave me a 30$ credit lol

I'll give this a try next week. You keep referring $199, which leads me to assume that you only got the 16GB model. Is this credit only good for this? I plan on getting the white 32GB, which should be $299 if the credit works as you stated. It'd be nice to have that activation credit, but I personally wouldn't push for it if I got the $250 credit.

I will first attempt to call AT&T and ask for the credit and probably order through the phone. And, if I understand you correctly, only iPhones purchased at AT&T can be credited? i.e., if I purchased a discounted iPhone from Apple, I wouldn't be able to get a credit.

Another thing, how long have you been an AT&T customer? And in good standing? What is your average monthly bill? Individual or monthly plan?

I imagine it would only work thru AT&T and yea 32g would be 299$ and so on for bigger .. And have been customer for like 6years monthly bill was 129$ for 3 lines only 1 iPhone but just changed to 3 iPhones family share n bill is 195$ but we get discount so ends up like 170$
