Earth Day Achievement Badge and Nike Run Club NRC

Has anyone been able to earn the achievement/badge using NRC or another third party app?

Or is it only working with Workout like the Thanksgiving achievement?

I'm thinking its the same as Thanksgiving. The wording actually mentions specific workouts that are available in the workout app.

I've noticed that using 3rd party apps for workouts do not count towards the 7 15 minute workout achievement, so I am guessing this will be the same.

I got the Earth Day badge after finishing an eight-mile trek today while using the NRC app.
 
Must use one of the exercises listed in order to get it. My 30 minute "other" exercise didn't qualify. Had to do a 30 min walk to properly get the badge.

So that must mean 3rd party apps won't work and NRC is not truly considered a 3rd party app because of the Nike/Apple partnership.

Really? That's encouraging. Did you start the run in the phone or watch. I've been starting from the phone because the Watch app had been crashing. The app was recently updated so hopefully it is more stable now.

I started it on my watch, but I did have my phone with me.

I just did a run using my Garmin watch, which syncs to Strava, which in turn syncs workouts back to Apple Health, and I have got the achievement. So it's not limited to just the built in Apple Watch workout app - I believe the description says you can use any app that syncs workouts to Apple Health.

This is great news if it is actually working properly this time. I'll report back later too!

Thanks for all the replies everyone, both my wife and I ran this morning using the Nike run club app (NRC). And we both got the achievement! Good luck to all of you.

Just an FYI: my wife started the run and ended the run using her phone. I started the run on my phone and ended it on my watch.
 
I've done 30 minutes of walking today, but didn't selected the workout option. The badge hasn't hight lighted for me.
