Hello,

just now, my iMac stopped, then a black screen and then in the center a folder icon with a flashing question mark.

I waited 10 minutes but nothing changed.

So I tried to restart the iMac ... impossible, restart is made each time on my backup DDE (Via CCC).

Could not find my Macintosh HD.

So I unplugged my DDE and I restarted by pressing Cmd + R.

A globe that rotates appeared with a small progress bar below and a time indication: 1:32 (countdown).

I let him (I could anyway do anything else), and on my return, everything was back to normal.

I took the opportunity to reconnect and save on my DDE via CCC and also via Time machine on my Time Capsule.

What has been happening?

If anyone can get an idea, I'm interested. I would love to know what may have caused this malfunction.

Thanks for your help

GGERARD

Folder with the question mark means that the system was not able to find a bootable disk with an OS installation. The reason can range from a harmless fluke to a failing disk. I'd make sure you have all your data backed up safely and run a disk check.
