easiest way/software to edit video from iPhoto

I can 'trim' video on my iPhone - yet when in iPhoto have zero video editing controls -

any suggests on the best way to keep videos in iPhoto and still be able to do simple trim edits on them to keep file size to a minimum?

Imovie 11 is your friend for this!

Open iMovie and import.

I find it easier to drag the videos from iPhoto to desktop (makes a copy) first.

agree, iphoto isnt for editing, imovie is

I find it easier to drag the videos from iPhoto to desktop (makes a copy) first.

There is no need to import. iPhoto videos show up in iMovie's Event Library as "iPhoto Video". Just drag into a Project.
