I want to make a youtube video with me talking, and a transparent background with an image that I can add in as a background. Just using my iMac camera and built in mic, nothing fancy. I want it to be like you would have on a Zoom call. I was hoping I could just do this with Quicktime player but that doesn't seem to work, or I can't see a way to remove the background. Is there an easy way to do this all in 1 step, without having to use editing software to remove the background afterwards?

How exactly do you expect that to work?? 🙄
By that I meant I don’t want to have to set up a green screen and remove the background after filming. If Zoom calls can remove your background on the fly I was just wondering if there was another app that will let me do that when I film the video

I don't know of anything that will do that during filming. Of course what Zoom does looks completely ****, too.

I have no idea how you're going to get this done without post-processing unless you literally just record your Zoom stream.

Otherwise:

There is a 90-day free trial. There are other apps that have a similar feature but do not do anywhere near as good of a job.

Yeah, your best bet is to get a greenscreen or bluescreen, record your vlog standing in front of it, and then load the footage and the background of your choice into iMovie and use the greenscreen/bluescreen tools. It'd look better than trying to do it live ala Zoom.

Or don't bother and just use the magnetic mask as outlined above. You simply need to see that your subject has as much contrast with the background as possible. E.g., a black shirt in front of a light background.

I recently actually experimented with the Magnetic Mask for one of my YouTube Poops!

It was definitely a lot easier than using the "Draw Mask" or "Scene Removal Mask" effects! You can see the finished results here...
But of course, this is a YTP, and not a simple vlog, hence my using Final Cut Pro for it.
