I'm going to write a movie about Zombie Jesus rising up and reaking havic on the world!!!

actually I'm going into Calgary to look for apartments.

You know I really did not have a clue that Easter was around the corner. Really

Of course I haven't been to much of any places that advertise some sort of Easter decorations or treats. mostly I have been on campus and infront of the old PB.

I am grounded but my mom feels bad and secretly lets me go out every night - without my dad knowing! ;) I love her.

That's true for England, but I think our friends north of the border have a day or two more – they have an extra day off at New Year, for example, and I think another day in early August?

Sadly, they don't officially - it seems to work in real life though. 2 Jan is an official holiday in Scotland but Good Friday isn't officially. There were bank strikes a few years ago when they tried to swap them over. Some places take the holiday anyhow but most shops and businesses up here are open. And there tends to be a 'local' holiday in early July - Edinburgh/Glasgow and the various towns stagger the weeks but that seems to take the place of the second May bank holiday.

I'm in Scotland for Easter at my mother's. She's decorated an Easter tree (pics tomorrow) and we're having a traditional Roman-style lamb on Easter Sunday. I went up to the Rococo chocolate shop on Kings Road and bought some real eggs which have had the whites/yolks sucked out and filled with chocolate instead. Also bought some interesting flavoured bars to hand out instead of eggs.

I'm intrigued and your link didn't quite give me the details that I'm curious about. Plus, SF seems soo far! And parking... ugh ugh.

I see you've never been to an event before where the Sisters were involved. :D They don't call themselves the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence for nothing you know. I suspect this Easter thing to be a bit more toned down than a lot of their other stuff but where the Sisters go, interesting things follow. :p They're also a good remedy for the blues if I ever could think of one.

I've given up on parking around these kinds of events though in these locations though, I'm fortunate to live in a location in SF where there's actually a good amount of open space and I don't have to worry about a permit plus I'm close to a major bus line so if I'm not in a hurry, I usually don't worry about it. Hell, I could walk to 18th and Dolores, if I can walk to the ferry building from my place I can take the hills up the street.

Thanks for clearing that up! The link I posted earlier cleared the Scottish situation up a little in my head, but it's useful to get it straight from the horses mouth, as it were.

Nothing too exciting planned here.

Friday - hang around the house doing nothing

Saturday - I'm going to be working all day seeing as it's a public holiday an I get payed lots. I was supposed to go see Dylan Moran at the comedy festival, but the shift I got at work didn't allow for that :(

Sunday - I think we're going to my grandmother's for lunch.

Monday - work again because it's a public holiday again.

I also have the rest of the week off from Uni, so I'll just be working a bit more and catching up on a few assignments. The following weekend is Orthodox Easter, so the whole family will be celebrating that - so much good food! I'm looking forward to it!

Hope everyone has a great time!

I'm on a bit of a cushy work experience two weeks - been working mega hard but it's two four day weeks. Had a very nice few half pints and a frankly rather spectacular burger with a fellow MacRumor lady in Edinburgh last night, which was a very pleasant evening indeed. :)

Went to the beach today with two of my old flatmates and played some 2p machines, am catching up on the rest of my old flatmates tonight, am seeing my granny in Glasgow tomorrow, some other friends tomorrow night, climbing Arthur's Seat (mountain thing) on Sunday daytime and seeing my other old flatmate on Sunday night. Phew! And then still have Monday off, but might do some work to impress my work experience bosses for Tues, like the swot that I am. :p

And I've found if I sit in my mates window, I can (at least for the past 10 minutes) get onto a random wireless network, so can check up on all you lot. Life is good. :)

I'm glad it's all going well up there... I'm sitting here at home watching Sopranos DVDs, eating cheese on toast and making notes for some meetings next week.

Happy Easter, Lau. :)

Cheese on toast? A fine choice. <drools, in spite of having eaten three, three, no less, hot cross buns this afternoon.

How did I know we would have the same plans... ;)

That makes three of us then!

I'll be keeping off the main roads and away from the airports. It looks as though there'll be a chance to do some work outside as it's finally warming up a bit.

Ah, another Whovian, excellent! If you haven't found it already, you might want to check out this thread.

I think I may have to join in too. I've completely run out of Star Trek because I can't bring myself to watch Enterprise and I need something to satisfy my inner geek!

Well, you can start watching the new episodes here in a couple days, but if you want to watch the previous 27 seasons, let me now, I have them all ripped and burned to DVDs (now that's a geek!)

27 seasons, premiering in 1963 = 170+ GB of AVIs. I need help. And I love it.

Also, you could always watch Battlestar Galactica if you don't already - amazing show.

Uggg. 140 pages of a website to completely redo before Tuesday.
Looking like I'm getting an LCD-tan this weekend.
At least I get to charge weekend rates, so I am plotting what I want to buy with the loot.

Here's a contender Dave Smith PolyEvolver Keyboard

The other thing we're doing is photoshoots for advertising for the dance studio we're helping set up
de Guzman Dance Studios, and of course, the printed materials and a real website for that. That's going to be fun, we have arranged a model, and photographer, and costumes and will be shooting against a seamless background.

As it's just me and the dog here this weekend (other half's in Dublin) I think I'll probably spend a lot of time drunk!

Wait, wait, wait......

BV - it looks like even without an official holiday on Easter for Americans (that would be too much church/state and the lobby can't compete with the Christmas folks), your thread does have legs...:)

flori - what on earth are you talking about Feds getting all sorts of holidays? Who got to stay home on Black Friday and could have gone to the big Apple Store sales while I had to go to work? Or did you forget that we had to leave my parents' place early on Thusday night. And I don't remember getting no Thanksgiving Eve off either...

As for my plans, I do hope to take some time and watch the Heston Ten Commandments (as opposed to the crappy remake I saw commercials for). That, and I have nothing planned for the weekend, so I will try and finish the Virginia State Part Year Income Tax Amendment Form for the wife (all for 32 lousy dollars that the crappy bank didn't send a 1099-INT for:mad: ), unless I finish before then.

The Feds do get a lot of holidays off. So you didn't get the day after Thanksgiving (I didn't get Thanksgiving Eve off either... that must've been a typo), but they do get other holidays we in the private sector don't typically get, including Columbus Day, MLK day, and I believe President's Day. They also get Inauguration Day off every four years (I think). Not to mention that depending on which branch of the government you're in you may also get unlimited sick leave. There are perks to being a Fed. The pay may not be as good, but they make up for it in other ways.

Well, it was a bloomin hot day today so I thought I'd do a bit of fell running. So I'm up at the bus stop and make a shock realisation. It's a holiday! I could have rang up my mates (they usually have work) and got a lift up there and had a top time. AND buses were rare as chimp.

But in the end I had a lot of fun on my own. I mean, I was up on top of the moors, making my way through these meandering valleys. Silence. Utter silence. No planes, no people, nothing. It was heaven. and a little scary!

Inauguration day is only for Feds that work in DC. It reduces secuity issues and lessens traffic. Plus, that way you don't have people trying to get out of the city while the rich folk go to the galas. And, a lot of private sector employers will give people the day off - they don't want to deal with the masses either.

And the unlimited sick leave, if I remember right, is only for officers in the military. And I thought Google does the same thing....

Work the whole weekend trying to finish up some last minute wedding plans. I'm getting married on the 29th.

thanks to both of you! Can't wait for it just to be over and I have some free time! I was trying to convince my fiance that we should register at the Apple store in Philly but she didn't think that would be such a great idea. She's slowly coming around to the Mac world though!
