Easy Question

    I have a macbook pro and i want to reinstall mac os x.
    When i get past langauge selection it says it cant install it and gives me choices to either restart or restore from backup disk.

    the disk im using is a 13 inch macbook pro disc, mac osx install dvd ver 1.2 for os verion 10.6.7 but my laptop is 10.6.8.

    so what do i do?

    Are you trying to do a clean install? If so then format the disc using disc utility through the os x disc and see if that helps. Maybe you have a bad disc?

    im not that tech savy so how would i reformat it?

    ohyeah btw i cant get to disk utility through the disc, just tried

    did the disk you're using come with the computer you're trying to reinstall it on?

    to Mac-Key, actually no it didn't, it came from my technology teacher from school, but it should work...rigght?

    If your laptop came with 10.6.8, I don't think a 10.6.7 disk will work.

    well it didn't come with it but i upgraded it to that since then

    Teachers should not be handing out OSX disk copies.

    so you got a 13" MBP restore disk... what size MBP you trying to use this disk on?

    Use the grey media which shipped with your mac or purchase a black os disc which can be used on any mac.

    im just gonna take this to apple store, i have warranty btw but thank you guys,i learned a little from this :D
