My latest bid is $1500. How high should I go. I didn't plan on spending anymore than 2300 for the phone, but I really need this phone so I am thinking of offering up to $3,750.

Advice?

Definitely go up to at least $3,500. That way, you'll be the hippest of all your friends for the 4 days until everybody else has theirs.

If it has Applecare+, then 3,650, otherwise 3500 is a good maximum. At 3,700 I would have to draw the line, but anything under is a bargain.

you better be kidding.....

in 2 weeks you will get one and it takes at least 3 days for it to be shipped to you.

Your realize it's not actually made out of gold right

I would go as high as 3700. Not more than that. I see you got some room there for bidding! Keep it up!

If you're not any bigger...I'd expect a real man to go 4k no problem

Buy from Apple online, get a cheap phone off craigslist to use until it comes and save a lot of money. You can probably get an iPhone 4 now (assuming you absolutely need an iPhone and can't get by without one for a few weeks) and resell it once your 5S comes for close to the same price or the same price.

Buy the gold iPhone my sister has on order. I'll take a 20% commission to pay for my silver iPhone 5s. :D

Seriously, save your money and wait a couple of weeks. Even if it's a month, eventually it will be plentiful. Perhaps if Apple had some women in the C-suite they'd have known that gold jewelry is popular in North America again, and would have adjusted the initial production. But they know now that they have a hit on their hands with the gold.

If you want legit advice then it is possible to obtain a gold/white 64GB unlocked Verizon GSM world phone for $1600 this week.

Buy it for 3500 then resell it for 7000 and double your money....duh

Edit, side note I'm jealous of people with this much expendable income.

Explain to me why you "need" this phone, enough to pay up to $3,750????

Is it just me, or does the price of this auction, and the fact that everyone tried to find the gold 5s all over the place on launch day remind you of the kids looking for the gold wrapper of that chocolate bar in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

Some of this is just bloody insane.
