Hi, I found a good deal on ebay on a mac pro, but... it's odd since there is an HTML link to pay now through paypal in the description on ebay. I clicked it, and got sent an invoice, but check out the invoice.
I emailed them asking for contact information and got no response seems sketchy?
looks like it's a spoof for labor ? or are they just being lazy. I dunno. I get why people want to bybass ebay due to the stupid fee's. but shoot...seems like they could take my money and say it was for labor.

There are two possible reasons. One is to avoid customs or duties on importing the machine should it be in another country. The other reason is that PAYPAL refunds, etc. are more difficult for labor and/or services categories since it can be disputed that you didn't get what you pay for. It could also be to avoid taxes for shipping an item through eBay that are now being collected for high dollar amount items. Whatever the reason they are doing it, it is on the shady scale.

Yeah , I emailed them three times with no response, a simple phone call or email exchange would be nice, but whatever don't feel like rolling the dice.

3 emails in more than 24 hours (e.g. one email per day)? If don't know the seller's exact location. It's hard to know if they are at different time zone, or even if their country is on holiday.

Item location:
Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States
-Three separate emails, one through ebay, one reply to invoice and another email address that sent with the invoice.

I can't believe you are even asking.
  • Payment outside of Ebay is explicitly a violation of the rules. I wonder what other rules they are willing to break. This is a much greater risk of fraud as your purchase won't be protected by any of Ebay's buyer protection programs. Strike one.
  • Lack of quick communication is strike two.
  • No phone number on invoice, strike three.
  • No physical address on invoice, strike four.
  • Only 8 feedback, strike five.
  • New Ebay account less than two months old, strike six.
  • Invoice number in the 4 million range but can't find the business on Google? Strike seven.
  • No feedback whatsoever as a seller and then suddenly selling a high ticket item...strike 1000.

hahaha yeah , At first I was like SWEET deal!, then I did some research (New Ebay account less than two months old) and the fact they never replied to any of my questions.. I reported him to ebay, dude put a link to his paypal account custom BUY IT NOW button right in his description. it's still up and people are bidding on it so, who knows..
