Hi all,

I'm contemplating buying a new battery for my 4-year old Powerbook. Thing is, I've already bought 2 replacement batteries, and spending $120 on something so old just doesn't seem worth it. I'd probably be better off buying a hackintosh for just a bit more, and enjoying 7-hour battery life. On eBay there are a lot of 15" powerbook battery auctions for around $40, like this one. Thing is, I think they might be fake. The back of the battery definitely isn't the same, and (in this case) they originate from hong kong. (I bought a replacement iPod cable from HK, and while it worked, it was most certainly fake.) Does anybody have any experience buying PB batteries from eBay? Can you recommend a seller? Thanks.

If by fake, you mean not Apple certified, yes it is fake.
If by fake, you mean it won't work, no it is not likely fake.

If you want a certified battery, you will have to buy a used one or be lucky enough to find an Apple-bought battery that was never used.
