Just return it. Save the hassle, I am surprised everyone here is not going on about the scalpers tbh.

I got scammed on my 4s. Put a second chance and the person paid promptly.

Ebay is getting really bad. I just got scammed buying an iPad Air from a 154 feedback seller they never shipped. Took eBay 25 days to get my $300 back.
But when someone tries scamming me saying item wasn't as described they refunded the buyer 3 days later and charged me back shipping of $35 since eBay let them choose 2 day usps select.

OK; if he claims that I sent an empty box like the poster above you stated? This possibility I never accounted for.

If you're going to go ahead and ship it, I would also, in addition to the above suggestions, video yourself at the shipper store, putting the item into the box, sealing it, putting the shipper label on it, showing the tracking number, and handing it to the clerk, all in the video. That way you have absolute proof that the box was not empty. If you have that, then eBay does side with you on the "box was empty" claims.

Wow that's a really good idea! But then wouldn't the blame fall on the shipping company instead?

The amazon prices are pretty good and amazon doesn't take that much money commision out of your sale. About half of what ebay and paypal charges you for an auction.
You can list it for whatever price you want.

Nice, will have to take a look. Trying to get around $400 for my iPhone 5s 16GB model. Seeing some go around there is pleasing plus just a flat $10 fee when it's finally sold is nice. eBay got me for $40 for my iPhone 5 being sold.

Got a situation: a 0 feedback bidder has a confirmed address
and now I actually have the money inside my paypal account...
am I covered?

It seems legit but the guy's email is bouncing.

Yet I have the money inside my paypal account and transferred it to my bank.

Ship the phone?
You need to withdraw the money from your account to your bank. But if they try scamming you it'll put a negative balance in your current paypal account making it unusable and I believe paypal won't allow the same banks or credits on different accounts, in case you try creating a new paypal account.

This doesn't guarantee anything. The box could have been broken into while in transit, leaving you to deal with. Paypal will side with the buyer 99% of the time. So you will have to file an insurance claim with UPS which will be denied.

Adding the restriction to 'block buyers without a Paypal account' usually eliminates most of those 0 feedback bidders. Since I've had it on I haven't gotten any them bidding on my items. I guess creating a Paypal account to link to the bogus eBay account is too much trouble for them to bother with.

I have been having this very same issue, only with trying to sell my 5s. I listed it last week and the buyer had no feedback and was not responsive. I listed it again and it sold to a buyer who only has a positive feedback of 1, and they are not responsive either. I'm thinking of just selling it on Swappa since I do not feel like listing this for a third time only to get another non-responsive buyer.

I've transferred the money. So if the money makes it to my bank, then all I'll have is a negative paypal balance which as long as I never deal with ebay/paypal again, I won't have to pay?

That I can live with, gladly. As long as I get my money this one time; I'm done with ebay after this. Siding with the buyer all the time is ridiculous since there are endless loopholes for a scammer to make up. They should go by my feedback record, realize that ebay no longer allows you to restrict 0 feedback buyers, and make a decision.

I'm not sure that's necessary to go to those lengths, but just more added evidence I suppose. Usually the "box was empty" claims are thwarted by the fact that the package weight is listed on the shipping label. If it really does show up empty, then something happened during shipment; in which case the insurance would reimburse you. I've never once had someone successfully scam me on eBay. One or two have tried, but I've always won the case with good documentation. The best way to prevent getting targeted by scammers in the first place is to have a good detailed listing that restricts buyers to US only buyers with Paypal accounts and clearly states you only ship to confirmed Paypal addresses, insured, signature required, with no international shipping. 99.9% of scammers will see that and realize it's not worth the hassle and move on to the 1 sentence listing that cheaps out on shipping trying to make a quick buck.

I've sold probably 12-15 iDevices over the years on eBay with not one single issue. All that said, I've never sold and would never sell a brand new iPhone right after release on eBay. It's always been my used devices, which I'm not out much if I do somehow get screwed. I'd think twice about selling such a high value, highly scam targeted item on eBay. I'd either sell it in person for cash only in a busy location with cameras (bank or mall), or just return it. Not worth the risk of losing $750-1000 to maybe make a couple hundred bucks (if that).

yes sir.

I agree eBay sucks. They are lazy and it'll cost too much money to do legit investigations so they side wit the buyer. After all as long as their are buyers will to come to eBay, sellers will keep testing their luck.

I sold my 16gb 5s on Swappa last week for $430... they only take 10 bucks and then the Paypal fees. It was a very pleasant experience. I used to have my own business on eBay and the hassle is just not worth it.... I've had lots of luck on Craigslist also but people do not like paying you what your phone is actually worth.

I'm deciding between Swappa and Amazon this time. I'm having issues getting my 5 to unlock though. I'm trying to get as much money as I can.

Awesome! I think I'm going to go that route and not deal with that mess on eBay. Seems like everyone is trying to scam someone on there.
