A surprising amount of ebay sellers tend to be illiterate brain dead idiots with a broken capslock key. So I think this is a good thing. If they want to leave negative feedback then they should be forced to report the buyer to ebay for breaking one of the rules, it would clearly be easy for the system to confirm if a payment was recieved or not. Or atleast have a buyer scorecard, showing how many auctions they won and paid for.

I only bought one thing on Ebay and it was my last time using it because of the douchebag seller. I bought a cellphone and never left feedback since I just wanted to buy something instantly with the "buy it now" option and forget about it. About 3 weeks later I got an email saying he left feedback, it was negative and consisted something like "BAD!!!!!! DEADBEAT BUYER!!!!!! DONT WASTE!!!!!". I didnt do anything wrong, I payed instantly with paypal using buy it now, I just didnt leave feedback so he thought he would leave some incoherent rambling on my feedback.

You really cannot trust ebay sellers, its a good thing ebay is finally trying to do something about those psychos that leave negative feedback for no good reason.

I dont think this is acceptable at all, rather than banning sellers who leave feedback why not force the seller to use a selection of radio options for reasoning of feedback and then justify it with a comment.

Then the comment should use what available data is kept on the ebay/paypal system so that they cannot lie, such as "did not pay" would not be viable if ebay page confirmed payment etc etc etc.

And believe me, there are an equal number of deadbeat eBay buyers that you could say the exact same thing about. Hence the reason why eBay is as screwed up as it is today...

My only negative FB is a retaliatory one...I left a negative FB after I hadn't heard anything from the seller for 3 weeks and then he left me one even though I sent payment immediately. Still pisses me off. But on the other hand, you do have deadbeat buyers who deserve the negative FB.

Same here. My wife was knitting some handbags for her co-worker's wedding, and needed a specific color/kind of yarn. She procrastinated, and of course, the only place in the entire world that had it was this one seller on e-bay. I bid, and when the auction ended, I promptly paid with Paypal. 3 weeks went by with nothing, no response to e-mails, nothing. I told her how much of a tight deadline we were on and needed the yarn shipped ASAP.

Finally, in desperation I filed a dispute to get my money back and left negative FB. In her e-mail response to the dispute, she finally replied and said "I hope you find it nowere." Got English?

Of course, the b*tch had to come in and leave retaliatory negative feedback, and she's even no longer a member on E-bay, but this is something that'll always be on my record. Oh well, 5 years not one blemish, hopefully people will see that and realize it is an anomaly.
