eBook Reader

What if the new device is just an eBook Reader. It seems that way from all of the rumors: NYT, textbooks...
can someone tell me why it wouldn't-I'm just wondering, I don't wanna pick a fight
 
Considering the equal amount of rumours about gaming ability, and with Flurry identifying unknown Apple tablet devices running games in Cupertino, as well as Apple inviting gaming press to the event tomorrow; you can safely assume it's probably going to be more than just an e-reader.

Don't be so sure, they are currently paying close to that now. The Que and Skiff will be in that range, offering a sleeker form factor that "should" be more appealing to the current e-reader lineup. I do believe the Apple Tablet will certainly be more than just an e-reader, more like a full spectrum portable media transport (Audio, Video and published text). Then add in all the other options for gaming and apps for those who want to play.

If it has a glossy screen, I think the e-reader aspect will be the least emphasized function of this device. I'd never want to read a full book on a computer. Even a matte screen will be bad enough for this function.

I'd read articles all the time, but I just don't see this thing as a kindle device for reading books.
 
Personally, I've read several books on my iPhone and haven't had any problem, so I'm thinking the Apple Tablet will wtill be great for this. What really has me excited however, is all of the OTHER things it will be able to do, and I think there's no chance it will be only an e-book reader. I just see that as an easy market to cater to initially, as people are getting used to that now.
 
I believe it will be a document delivery system (ie a more sophisticated ebook reader for all sorts of publications), and do everything an iphone can do except make phone calls and be used as a gps.

So web browsing, email, iphone apps etc etc all of that, on top of being a state of the art document utilization device also with a unique and extensive library for publications to use with it.

It's going to be iPhone Plus - ie do what it does, and more:
So movies, books, magazines, journals, games, business apps... and if it has front facing camera - iChat...

A Nook or Kindle is just an eBook Reader really. The tablet will be a multipurpose device - it doesn't just solely do book. Heck - the iPhone does books -it that just for eBook reading?
