I've not noticed a lot of outages. However, they do provide a running Incident History:

"The new remote sensor is nicer to look at than the prior model, but I’m disappointed that it doesn’t add the ability to measure humidity; it still only measures temperature and detects motion. The system also still takes a long time to switch between home and away modes, even when it hasn’t detected any motion activity for over an hour on any of the sensors, which has been an ongoing frustration with the Ecobee for me."
I stopped using the smart away feature based on motion long ago. Light moving throughout the house during the day would trigger the sensors so it never worked. I turned it off. I only ever use the comfort zones for time of day. When we are home on a holiday we are a little chilly or a little hot based on time of year but no big deal really. I just remind the family the house thinks we are not home.
